The Beard

2016

I had been growing my beard for some time when a good friend was given a terminal cancer diagnosis. Feeling completely useless and unable to help or change anything for her, but also wanting to cheer her up and do something positive, I decided to fundraise for a charity beard shave on the stage of a busy pub on a Saturday night. I came out looking 15 years younger, with my beard in one piece that I was able to recreate with the help of a mannequin, lots of latex and glue, and over €3500 raised for Cancer Research. I will forever dedicate this work in loving memory of Franzi Jones, one of the sweetest, kindest people I ever knew.
