Hairy Fish

Fish, to me, are the indigenous aliens of our planet, living in the same space but a completely different environment, cold, scaly, without perceivable emotion. Even eating fish leads to intrigue – the different flesh, skin and bone structure is a million miles from our own. In this study I thought about several different textures that are so normal in the everyday, but so abnormal when combined with the alien. Sketches include feathered and hairy fish, but I finally decided to make this work with oils and fur threaded through canvas.
